This resource provides an overview of the topic of violent extremism, drawing on local and recent manifestations in order to help students identify and protect themselves from the dangers of violent extremism.
It contains materials which teachers can use to stimulate discussion and debate in the class room as well as a practical guide to delivering this material in a safe and non offensive manner. More
This project aims to deliver on the following objectives from the 'Learning together to be safe toolkit':

Understand how an extremist narrative which can lead to harm can be challenged by staff in schools; and model to pupils how diverse views can be heard, analysed, and challenged in a way which values freedom of speech and freedom from harm.

Understand how to prevent harm to pupils by individuals, groups or others who promote violent extremism, and manage risks within the school.

Increase the resilience of pupils and of school communities through helping pupils acquire skills and knowledge to challenge extremist views, and promoting and ethos and values that promotes respect for others.

Use teaching styles and curriculum opportunities which allow grievances to be aired, explored and demonstrate the role of conflict resolution and active citizenship.
